Roman History: Cartnuntum Archaeological Park

The emperors conference held in 308 AD at the Cartnuntum was a turning point in world history which makes this archeological park an educational walk through Roman history. Restored stone and timber structures provided a glimpse back into ancient history of the living spaces such as kitchens, baths, and workshops. The importance of this site is more so today if we’re to learn from the rise and fall the Roman Empire. A short ride on the train from Wien, the Cartnuntum is located amongst some small, boutique wineries in the Danube River Valley which produces a nice selection of Chardonnays, Weissburgunder, and Grüner Veltliner which are the designated white DAC varieties. Carnuntum DAC consistently proves to be a reliable source for these well-structured and robust white wines. White cuvées can include up to a third of other white Qualitätswein grape varieties. Cheers!
