Ayutthaya was the capital of the Kingdom of Siam during the 13th century before it was taken and destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. What remains now is a historical park two hours north of Bangkok. The archaeological ruins attract visitors from around the world. Some visitors enjoy walking the temple grounds dressed in rented period costumes for photographs.
