Hua Lampong
Hua Lampong station in Bangkok was the city’s central station until this year when Bang Sue Central Station was opened. With a classical facade which faces out to a wide circular boulevard, passengers entered into a caveneous, vaulted steel ceiling reminiscent of Washington, D.C.’s own Union Station. Hua Lampong provided train service to provinces throughout the Thai kingdom at very affordable fares and service levels. This artist found the station to be a fountain of inspiration to sketch or paint a cross-section of laborers and office workers, street vendors, and other people who have grown to call the station home.
